"The wheels on the bus go round and round…"

The dedicated duo have transformed the Bristol VR into a pretty unique expedition vehicle, tough enough on the outside – bull bar included for any manic traffic – and comfy enough on the inside, to tackle the trip.

With its 12-litre Gardener Diesel engine, top speed of 75mph and an outrageously roomy interior of 480 sq ft over the two decks, Dan and Matt believe their rather special bus is the business for the trip.

Not only that, it’s been uniquely converted so that the roof folds down by 2.5 feet, to avoid low bridges – and to provide a sundeck for when they’re chilling in stationary mode.

I'm a fanatic about the Bristol VRs and am very glad to see such a lovely bus take on these duties. Definately the right bus for the job. I'm just wondering how you could get 75mph out of a VR even with a highered gearbox. Would it not be slugish on the hills because of this?"

No problem keeping to time on X1 service in that old girl, she would pass a Volvo citybus on Long Ashton bypass outside Bristol on route to Weston. good luck lads hope the trip goes well "
