It's quite a feat that 44 years after forming, The Rolling stones could pull off the biggest gig of their career and one of the biggest gigs in the whole of music history. Over one million fans crowded onto Copacabana Beach in February of 2006, hundreds sleeping on the sand up to a week prior to the performance, to ensure they could be near the stage.

The stage, which was constructed facing Rio's Sugar Loaf Mountain, was seven storeys tall, with a walkway that ran directly into the Stones' hotel. Even locals who had never heard of the band were caught up in the hype and came to the beach to hear the gig from the back, despite the soaring temperatures. The boys didn't disappoint, entertaining their Brazilian crowd and millions who were spectating on 150 cinema screen across the globe, with a set of over 20 greatest licks including Jumpin' Jack Flash and Satisfaction.
